President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans to prioritize athletes in the recruitment process for Ghana's security services if elected back into office.

The move, he believes, will offer young sports talents access to the resources and structure needed to further their careers while serving the nation.

Speaking at a recent engagement, Mahama said he has instructed the Minister of Interior to give sportsmen and women special consideration during security service enlistments. "In the past, when we brought sportspeople into the security services, it gave them the opportunity and the equipment and the facilities to train and improve themselves," he explained.

According to the president, this initiative would benefit young athletes, especially those finishing senior high school, by offering them meaningful career paths in institutions like the police, immigration, fire service, and prisons.
