Former Ghana international Awudu Issaka has spoken publicly about a transformative spiritual experience he says occurred during his time in a Malaysian prison.

Issaka, a member of Ghana's 1995 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning squad, revealed in an interview with Sporty FM that he encountered Jesus Christ while incarcerated Raised in a Muslim household, Issaka said he began joining Christian inmates for prayer sessions while in detention, a habit that would ultimately alter the course of his life. "Whenever I closed my eyes and prayed with them, I saw the sky open up with Jesus and his angels," he said. "I couldn't see him clearly because of the angels surrounding him, so I asked him to reveal himself to me face-to-face." He further claimed that during one of the prayer sessions, Jesus touched his hair and said, "I am happy that you have come to me." Encouraged by this vision, Issaka said he prayed for a fellow inmate who had fallen unconscious.

The man reportedly recovered immediately.

Issaka described the experience as a defining moment that deepened his faith and gave him a new perspective on life.
