Award-winning Ghanaian event host and entertainment commentator, David Adjei Frimpong, popularly known as MC Portfolio, has proposed that the funeral of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba be held in his hometown, Nsuta in the Ashanti Region, to reflect the rich cultural heritage the region is known for-particularly in the area of funeral tourism. Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM's Showbiz Review, MC Portfolio passionately described the Ashanti Region as the "undisputed hub" of funeral organization in Ghana, emphasizing that taking Daddy Lumba's body back to Nsuta would be both culturally fitting and nationally symbolic."Let's take the body back to Nsuta, organize it properly, and give people a reason why we say we own funeral tourism in Ghana," he said.
According to him, funerals in the Ashanti Region have evolved into elaborate cultural showcases-complete with food bazaars, traditional dances, and rituals that highlight the spiritual and communal significance of life and death. "Now, the glitz and glam at funerals in the Ashanti Region surpasses that of the red carpet shows in Ghana.
Come and witness the food bazaar.
