President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has appealed to the government to duly reward the Black Queens following their impressive third-place finish at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Despite a shaky start to the tournament, Ghana bounced back strongly to secure a bronze medal, edging South Africa 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout in the third-place playoff.
The team, led by Swedish head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, returned home on Monday morning to a warm reception at Kotoka International Airport.
Speaking to the press on the team's arrival, Mr Okraku praised the players' resilience and called for national recognition of their efforts. "This is the time for us to reward them. "Yes, they desired to bring the trophy home, but they have proven that they are on the right path," he added.
