The Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga, Nurudeen Mohammed Mumuni, has described the curfew imposed on Nalerigu township and its surrounding communities as being poorly coordinated and lacking justification.

The curfew, announced on Sunday, July 27, 2025, by the Ministry of the Interior, restricts movement in the area from 2:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The directive was issued on the recommendation of the Northeast Regional Security Council in response to what was described as rising insecurity in the area.

However, according to citinewsroom report on July 27, 2025, Mohammed Mumuni questioned the rationale and planning behind the curfew.
