Curfew has been imposed on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas following growing security concerns in the North East Region effective Sunday, July 27, 2025.
The curfew will run daily from 2:00 pm to 6:00 am until further notice.
In a public statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior, it was explained that the curfew was instituted upon the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and sanctioned through Executive Instrument. "The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed curfew hours on Nalerigu Township and its environs in the North East Region from 2:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Sunday, July 27, 2025, until further notice," the statement read.
This move comes in response to escalating tension and violence in the area, prompting national security interventions to restore calm.
