Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has passed away.

His death occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness, according to an official statement from the Fosu family.   The announcement, signed by Fati Ali Yallah, counsel for the Fosu family from Baba Jamal & Associates, expressed the family's profound sorrow over the loss of one of Ghana's most celebrated musical icons."Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives," the statement read. "His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience." The family is requesting privacy as they go through this difficult time of grief and added that funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.

Daddy Lumba, known for his timeless songs and impactful lyrics, leaves behind a rich musical legacy that spans decades.

He was 60 years old.
