Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has thrown her weight behind the idea of constructing a railway line linking Jomoro in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region, describing it as a project that would significantly enhance the movement of goods and support Ghana's broader transport agenda.
Speaking during her vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Affo-Toffey noted the importance of expanding the country's railway network through strategic partnerships and investments. "If approved, I will work with my sector minister to attract investors and explore public-private partnerships that will help modernise our railway system," she told the committee.
When asked about the viability of a direct rail route between Jomoro and Tema, she was unequivocal in her support. "Yes, Mr.
Chairman, I will support it.
