The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has dispatched a special investigative team to Asawase to help unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of the Kusasi Chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe.
The late chief, who also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday, 22 July 2025, in what authorities suspect was a targeted attack.
Speaking to the bereaved family, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, assured them that the police are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice. "We have already launched thorough investigations, and I assure you that we will hunt down and arrest those responsible," DCOP Teye-Cudjoe said.
He added that all necessary protocols have been completed, and the chief's body will be released for burial.
