Correspondence from Eastern Region Pressure groups in the Krobo area of the Eastern Region have temporarily called off their planned demonstration scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, over the poor conditions of the Somanya-Kpong and Somanya-Asitey roads.
The highly publicized protest, originally intended to demand urgent government intervention on the long-neglected stretches, has been suspended following Monday's meeting between the Eastern Regional minister and the organizers.
Reconstruction of the Somanya-Kpong and Somanya-Asitey roads began in June 2024.
Works on the 9-year-old 15.7 km Trom-Kpong facility earlier undertaken in 2016 from Trom through Somanya to Kpong have become necessary following its complete deterioration over the short period.
