Tennis legend Venus Williams has announced her engagement to actor Andrea Preti, shortly after marking a triumphant return to the court with a straight-sets victory over rising star Peyton Stearns at the Citi Open in Washington D.C.

The 45-year-old seven-time Grand Slam champion hadn't competed since March 2024, having undergone surgery to remove fibroids from her uterus.

But in a performance that stunned spectators and rekindled memories of her prime, Venus showcased resilience, power, and poise to defeat the 23-year-old Stearns - her first match win in 16 months.

Following the emotional win, Venus took a moment during her on-court interview to share personal news that drew roaring applause from the crowd."My fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing," she said with a smile, gesturing toward Preti, 37, who watched from the stands. "There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill.
