The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon.

Kofi Iddie Adams, has praised the Black Queens for their brave and inspiring performance in the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-final.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, 23rd July 2025, the Minister, speaking on behalf of the Government of Ghana and the Ministry, commended the team for pushing the host nation to the limit during 120 minutes of high-intensity football, eventually falling short in a penalty shootout. "Taking the hosts through 120 minutes of spirited football and contesting the result on penalties reflects both your determination and your commitment to the national cause," he said.

Though the result did not go Ghana's way, the Minister said the team had achieved something far more significant - restoring pride and reaffirming Ghana's place in women's football.
