The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has revealed that thousands of rounds of military ammunition transferred from the Ghana Armed Forces to the National Security Secretariat in 2024 have not been accounted for.
He has therefore expressed outrage over the situation, questioning why such a magnitude of ammunition could be transferred to an agency that does not maintain an active fighting force.
Dr Omane Boamah made the revelation when he took his turn at the newly instituted programme by the government known as the "Government Accountability Series" on Monday, July 21, 2025.
He has therefore directed the National Security Secretariat to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the ammunition and its current whereabouts, as it has not yet been accounted for "The reality is that to date, those ammunitions have not been accounted for," he emphasized.
