A newborn baby dumped in a public latrine at Kawmeduakrom in the Obuasi East District has been rescued alive, thanks to the swift intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The dramatic rescue took place late Sunday night, July 20.
The GNFS received a distress call around 10:30 p.m., prompting an immediate dispatch of a rescue team to the scene.
Divisional Officer Grade Two (DO2) Peter Addai confirmed to Citi News that the team, led by Station Officer II Appiah Kubi, arrived promptly and carried out a delicate operation to save the baby. "Using an extension ladder, the officers descended into the latrine and successfully retrieved the baby by 11:31 p.m.," he said.
