Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken for the first time since former midfielder Thomas Partey was officially charged with rape by UK authorities.

Partey, whose contract with Arsenal expired in June 2025, is no longer with the club.

The charges were filed after his departure, ending a long-running investigation into allegations that first surfaced in 2022.

Asked on Friday whether Arsenal had handled the situation appropriately during Partey's time at the club, Arteta responded: "I think the club was clear in the statement, and there are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated.
