The head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, was full of praise for his players on Saturday night after the team overcame Algeria to advance to the semi-final of the 2024 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Queens locked horns with their North African counterpart on Saturday in a fierce contest in the quarter-final.
Following a goalless draw in 90 minutes, the match went to extra time, but there was no winner, forcing the game to be decided through a penalty shootout.
Ghana goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan saved two penalty kicks to inspire the Black Queens to a 4-2 win at the end of the shootout.
