Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has promised a much-improved display from his team when they face Algeria in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) today, Saturday, July 19.

Ghana is bidding for a spot in the semifinals as they come up against a well-drilled Algerian side at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, with kick-off set for 16:00 GMT.

Despite the Black Queens conceding in all three of their group stage matches, the Swiss tactician expressed confidence in his squad's ability to step up their performance.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Bjorkegren acknowledged Algeria's defensive strength and their impressive goalkeeper but stressed that Ghana would raise their game. "Algeria are a really well-organised team, especially in defense, and they have a good goalkeeper," Björkegren told the press on Friday. "We've talked about the need to make it a little more difficult for her. "We can't just shoot from 45 meters and hope for the best.
