The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has underscored the need for Ghanaians to be granted large-scale mining concessions as given to foreign firms.
This, he explained, would control repatriation of profits accrued form the mining sector and enable more Ghanaians with technical expertise to gain employment to bolster the economy for national development.
In a video on social media platform X, Otumfuo advocated that Ghanaians must be given priority if any mining concession is to be granted so that they [Ghanaians] can partner other foreign firms.
This, he said, would ensure that greater parts of profit gained from large-scale mining activities would not be repatriated but would remain in the country as done elsewhere.
