The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Lawyer Baffour Awuah, has called on the to demonstrate professionalism and independence during the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
Speaking to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) on July 17, 2017, Lawyer Awuah emphasised the need for the security agencies to maintain law and order without bias or external influence.
According to him, incidents that marred the Ablekuma North election should not be repeated in Akwatia.
He expressed concern over reports of intimidation and misconduct during the Ablekuma North polls, stressing that such acts undermine Ghana's democratic credentials. "I want the Ghana Police to exhibit control and independence in the upcoming Akwatia by-election because I don't want what happened at Ablekuma North to repeat itself again," Lawyer Baffour Awuah stated.
