The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, says his accommodative nature and humility are the reasons he has been able to serve as MP for 24 years.
He said he welcomed all and sundry in his constituency, irrespective of their party affiliations.
Mr Agyapong was advising Charles Bissue, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan on how he could win the December polls and retain the seat during the launch of his campaign in the constituency on Saturday. "Ask me why I have been an MP for 24 years.
When I said I wouldn't stand again, they were begging, but I am tired.
Why?
Because when you come to my house, whether you are from Assin, NDC, or NPP, whoever you are, I open my door. "When you come to my house, I sit on the floor and eat with them because I am a local boy," he stated.
He also cautioned the party faithful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Essikado-Ketan constituency not to underestimate the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Agyapong noted that the only way Bissue can beat NDC's Dr Grace Danquah to maintain the seat for the NPP after 20 years of dominance is for all and sundry to work extra hard to convince people. "I plead with you, let's not treat this as a funfair but go to the various houses and spread the good word.
Do not underestimate the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC who is contesting.
Do not underestimate her. "She has contested a sitting MP twice.
The last time, the sitting MP had 26,000 votes, and she had 24,000."
