It is emerging within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the current Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, is being seriously considered by some power blocs in the party to be presented as its 2028 flagbearer.
Constitutionally, the current President is not eligible for another term after 2028 since he would have duly served his two terms, having served from 2012 to 2016 and serving his last term, which commenced in January 2025 Many names, including the current National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, have been making the rounds in the media as potential successors to John Dramani Mahama.
