CEO of Hasaacas Ladies Football Club, Evelyn Nsiah Asare Owusu, believes the Black Queens' shaky start at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) was due to the team's and anxiety in front of goal.
Ghana began their campaign with a 2-0 loss to South Africa, followed by a 1-1 draw with Mali, before finally finding their rhythm in a dominant 4-1 victory over Tanzania to secure a quarterfinal spot.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Nsiah Asare explained that the team was too eager to score in the opening games, which led to avoidable errors and missed opportunities. "They â the girls â are good, but I think they have to take their time," she said. "Our first and second game, it's not that we didn't do well, but we were in a hurry to score.
And when you are in a hurry to score, you make so many mistakes.
