Mohammed Kudus' £55 million switch to Tottenham Hotspur could have taken a very different turn, according to fresh reports suggesting that Chelsea were seriously considering a move for the Ghana international before pulling out due to specific demands made by the player.
As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, the West London club explored both player-swap and cash options with West Ham United but eventually chose not to pursue the deal further.
The main sticking point, it is claimed, was Kudus' insistence on being played in a central role â something Chelsea were not prepared to offer.
Journalist Simon Phillips revealed that while Kudus was eager to operate through the middle, Chelsea saw him more as a wide option, particularly on the right flank.
