Executives of the (NDC) from six constituencies within the Bawku enclave, Zebilla, Garu, Bawku Central, Binduri, Tempane, and Pusiga have threatened to suspend all party activities and resign if the government does not take immediate action to resolve the escalating Bawku conflict.

The warning follows renewed violence in the area sparked by allegations that military personnel destroyed a statue of the overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area, Naaba Abugrago Azoka II.

Addressing the press on Wednesday,July 16, 2025, the NDC's Bawku Central Constituency Communications Officer, Yusuf Otumba, demanded an independent probe into the civilian deaths caused by military operations in the area. "As the frontline leaders and campaigners of the NDC in Kusaug, our lives are now under serious threat, not only from the violence but also from the growing frustration of our people, who now see us as enablers of a system that has completely betrayed them," he stated.

Otumba noted that the region's NDC leadership is increasingly being viewed with suspicion by their constituents, who feel abandoned and unprotected.
