Ghana forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has attributed the Black Queens' emphatic 4-1 win over Tanzania to a strong sense of unity and togetherness within the squad.
The victory, recorded in their final Group C game at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), secured Ghana a spot in the quarterfinals, where they will now face Algeria on July 19 at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
Speaking after the match, Boye-Hlorkah revealed how the team's collective mentality helped them bounce back after conceding the opening goal. "We conceded the goal, which I take responsibility for, but then, as I look around, all the girls are picking me up," she said. "That's what we needed today.
That's what the coach wanted, and that's why I told the girls we need a team." She added, "We're not going to win this game without being a team, and that's what we did every second of that game.
