The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has charged members of the 6th Governing Council of the Local Government Service (LGS) to ensure diligence in the discharge of their duties to ensure effective local governance in Ghana.

The minister made this call during a brief ceremony on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to inaugurate the council.

While congratulating the 15 members of the council, the minister underscored the significance of their role and urged them to bring their respective expertise to bear in the discharge of their duties. "On behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, I extend heartfelt appreciation to each one of you for accepting the call to serve in a role so critical to the nation's development agenda," he stated.

He emphasised the president's commitment to strengthening local governance and enhancing public service delivery as part of the agenda to "reset" the country.
