National Security operatives in the Ashanti Region have impounded seven trucks believed to be involved in a scheme to divert goods and evade import duties.
The trucks, which were transporting goods from the Tema Port, were intercepted at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
Authorities say the drivers claimed their final destination was Burkina Faso.
However, investigations suggest that the goods were instead being diverted and offloaded in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region to avoid paying the required customs duties.
