The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Prof Kobby Mensah, has urged young people to support political parties based on shared values and ideological beliefs, not in expectation of personal rewards.

Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Prof Mensah cautioned against the growing misconception that politics should serve as a financial investment. "You do not work in politics because you'll be directly handed some goodies.

That's a misunderstanding," he said. "You back a political party in the understanding that they are better governors than the other, and they can ensure collective good for everybody else," he added.

He criticised the notion that political support should automatically translate into job offers or financial gains, adding that such attitudes dilute the purpose of civic engagement. "It's not a business investment," he explained. "If you put in 100,000 cedis in business, you expect a return of 150,000.
