A pressure group within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Patriotic Movement, has alleged that former President Nana Akufo-Addo is secretly working to overturn the party's recent decision to hold early presidential primaries and expand the electoral college.
According to the group, Akufo-Addo is lobbying groups and individuals to oppose the proposed amendments during the party's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Monday.
The Patriotic Movement claims Akufo-Addo's actions are motivated by a desire to maintain control over the party's leadership and decision-making processes.
By pushing for late primaries, the former President allegedly aims to consolidate his influence within the party and ensure his preferred candidates emerge victorious.
