The Ministry of Health has revealed that a total of 48,878 nurses who graduated in 2021, 2022, and 2023 are currently unemployed.
In addition, 21,570 Allied Health Professionals have not received financial clearance since 2019, while 1,621 pharmacists remain without employment over the same period.
Addressing Parliament, Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, stated that the Ministry has received formal requests from 13 countries expressing interest in recruiting some of the unemployed nurses.
He added that the government is working to secure financial clearance to absorb the remaining health professionals into the system. "Currently, the number of health workers demanding employment is substantial and far above the 30,000 as quoted.
