The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has assured that appropriate action will be taken following the assault of a journalist by a police officer during the parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.

The incident, involving a GHOne TV reporter, occurred at one of the 19 polling stations where voting took place on Friday, July 11, 2025.

A widely circulated video showed the journalist being violently attacked while covering the polls, sparking public outrage and renewed concerns over press freedom and police accountability during elections. "It is not everything that comes to our attention," Minister Muntaka stated.

He added: "But since this incident involved both a police officer and a journalist, we are happy to intervene.
