A former Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Dr Emmanuel Marfo, has stated that the (NPP) will only accept the outcome of the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun in 19 polling stations if the process is conducted freely and fairly.
Speaking to GhanaWeb TV on Friday, July 11, 2025, Dr Marfo explained that the party had initially deemed the rerun unnecessary, since voters had already cast their ballots in the original election. "Well, at first we thought that this rerun was not necessary because the people of Ablekuma had cast their votes already and it was up to the Electoral Commission and the to cooperate and get the collation done," he said.
He added that the party's current participation is to support its candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, and ensure that peace and order prevails. "If at the end of the day we feel that justice has prevailed, we feel that things have been done well, and everything has run smoothly according to law, of course, the NPP, I believe, will accept the results, and the candidate herself will also accept the results," he emphasised.
Dr Marfo attributed the electoral dispute to failure of authorities to maintain order during the initial process. "We voted first and then somebody organised to create chaos to disturb the collation of the results.
