The UNICEF Representative to Ghana, Osama Makkawi Khogali, has called on stakeholders to prioritise improving the country's birth registration system, describing it as a sector ready for practical and effective reforms.
He emphasised Ghana's potential to adopt successful models from other countries to make its system more efficient and accessible.
Speaking on AM EXCLUSIVE on JoyNews on July 10, 2025, he said, "I think we can learn from other country experiences on how we can simplify the registration, the birth registration system in Ghana.
But my call here is that we need to give it a bit of the attention that it requires." Khogali expressed confidence that with the right level of commitment and collaboration, Ghana could find a practical solution that works. "I am sure, 100% sure, we will come up with a very doable solution into these areas and a more efficient way to carry out the registration systems," he said.
