An exchange of bullets between the police and a group of armed robbers on the Atebubu-Yeji highway in the Bono East Region has left two of the robbers dead.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the armed robbers had earlier stormed, attacked and robbed traders, and shot one person dead.
A reliable police source told the GNA that the robbery attack happened at Kobre, a community along the stretch around 2000hours Sunday July 6, 2025, when the traders were returning from the Yeji market to Atebubu.
The police highway patrol team chanced on the robbers which led to the exchange of firearms, the source stated, adding that one of the robbers was able to escape with a gunshot wound.
