FC Aarau sporting director Elsad Zverotic has hailed the arrival of Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, describing him as a "quick, dynamic player" following his free transfer to the Swiss Challenge League side.

Afriyie, 24, has signed a two-year contract with Aarau after parting ways with FC Zurich, where he spent the last 18 months.

The former Hearts of Oak star terminated his contract with Zurich by mutual consent, paving the way for his move to the second tier of Swiss football. "Daniel is a quick, dynamic player and will strengthen our team with his experience in the Swiss Super League and on the international stage with the Ghanaian national team," Zverotic said, expressing confidence in the forward's ability to bolster Aarau's attacking options.

Afriyie joined FC Zurich in January 2023 after a standout spell with Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak.
