The 2024 Ablekuma North Parliamentary Candidate of the (NPP), , has petitioned the Accra High Court for an injunction to restrain the from conducting a rerun of the parliamentary elections in any of the 281 polling stations within the Ablekuma North constituency.

In a lawsuit filed on her behalf by lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo, she is seeking among other things, an order of certiorari to quash the 's decision, an order of prohibition to prevent the rerun, and a directive compelling the Commission to comply with the court's January ruling.

The suit alleges that the EC acted "arbitrarily, capriciously, and in excess of its jurisdiction." Akua Afriyie's legal action follows the 's announcement of a planned rerun of the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations within the constituency, scheduled for July 11, 2025.

She has since rejected the EC's decision, arguing that results from all but three polling stations in the constituency had already been collated. "I got the news from my national executives who represented us, but I am not happy with it.
