The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) acclaimed Dr.
Daniel Augustus Lartey Jr.
as the party's presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.
He was officially outdoored at the party's 7th National Delegates Congress held in Accra on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
He and other national executives of the party were elected unopposed and sworn in by executives from the Electoral Commission.
Speaking at the ceremony, the candidate promised to secure victory for the party in the general elections.
He pledged to improve the party's domestication policies for implementation when elected to office.
He also announced plans by the party to use technology and agriculture to transform Ghana.
He said, "Agriculture used to be the backbone of the economy, but the same cannot be said now.
We will reform agriculture and supply farmers with tools to work.
We will make sure that the citizens will grow what they will eat and what they will sell from their land." On his part, General Secretary of GCPP, Citizen Ato Dadzie, slammed the government for failing to deal with illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey. "We pretend to be fighting galamsey.
Because the fight against galamsey has been done along party lines, no government is willing to commit to fighting it because the opposition will use it against the incumbent government" he said.
