The management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has refuted media reports suggesting that a young doctor at the facility caused a man to become paralysed following a medical procedure.
In a statement dated June 30, 2025, KATH described the report as misleading. "Management wishes to state that the allegation is completely unfounded and that the complainant's current condition was not and could not have been caused by a procedure performed on him at the hospital.
The insinuation that an "intern" performed the said procedure during his visit to the hospital is equally false", it noted.
The hospital clarified that medical records reveal the patient's current state is due to complications from a chronic medical condition he has been living with since birth.
