The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has clarified that its professional dress code policy, which became the subject of public debate following a viral video, is not a new directive but a longstanding tradition.

This follows public backlash stemming from an altercation between a Level 100 student and a member of the university's Dress Code Compliance Team, as well as the denial of entry to lecture halls for some students due to inappropriate dressing.

The incident, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, sparked conversations about the appropriateness of the policy and how it is enforced.

In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday July 3, Aba Lokko, Head of Public Relations at UPSA, noted that "This isn't a new policy regarding the dress code." "The policy on our dress code is in the student's handbook, which has been in existence since 2018.
