Richard Asare Baffour, lawyer for former traditional priestess turned evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has strongly condemned the 15-year prison sentence imposed on his client, calling it unfair and swayed by public opinion.
Agradaa was convicted and sentenced by the Circuit Court in Accra on Thursday, July 3, for offences including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
The court found that in 2022, she used a televised broadcast to deceive the public by falsely claiming to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money.
Several victims, lured by her claims, reportedly handed over substantial sums of money expecting miraculous returns that never materialised.
