The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of bowing to pressure from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the rerun of parliamentary elections in the constituency.
This follows the EC's announcement of a rerun after disputes over the authenticity of election results from the December 7, 2024, General Election.
In an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Friday, July 2, she expressed strong disapproval of the decision, arguing that the process had nearly concluded before the rerun was announced.
She questioned the EC's sudden reversal, after previously affirming under oath in Parliament that only three polling stations remained, casting serious doubt on the Commission's independence.
