The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will address the nation on Thursday, July 3, 2025, to clarify its position on the Electoral Commission's (EC) decision to rerun the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency.

Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday July 2,following the EC's July 2 press release, NPP Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed said his party did not agree to the rerun during the recent meeting with the EC and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). "Our representatives were at the meeting, and I have to put it on record that there was no such agreement with the EC," Mohammed emphasised. "That is very evident in the release of the EC-that the political parties did not agree." The EC's decision to rerun part of the parliamentary election stems from controversy over the use of scanned Pink Sheets after the destruction of original documents during a chaotic incident at the collation center.

While the EC stated that 19 polling stations lacked verification from presiding officers, it maintained that the rerun is necessary to uphold electoral integrity.

But the NPP holds a different view.
