When Ghana launched her innovative Zipline medical drone service in 2019, it was a rare global novelty changing medical delivery in the country.
With limited operational services in Rwanda, Ghana led by then Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, engaged the services of Zipline medical drone- a partnership which turned out to be the biggest drone medical delivery service in the world, gaining global plaudits.
With six centers making over 2000 daily delivery of essential medical supplies to remote villages, this innovation has resulted in massive transformation in Ghana's health sector ensuring real-time air transport of medical supplies.
Interestingly, while Ghana launched this service six years ago, health officials in England, only last year, announced it was getting ready to launch its medical drone service.
