The Ghana Police Service has successfully foiled a planned robbery and arrested three suspects in connection with an attempt to steal a gold consignment valued at over GH¢1.3 million.
The suspects, identified as Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif, and Kenneth Khartey, were apprehended last Thursday, June 26, 2025, along the Accra-Akuapem-Mamfe road.
The arrests were made possible through an intelligence-led operation by the Special Support Unit (SSU) at the National Headquarters.
According to a police statement issued on July 1, the SSU initiated the operation on Wednesday, June 25, after receiving intelligence that a gold dealer's driver and an individual posing as his bodyguard were planning to rob the dealer during a scheduled gold delivery.
