THE President of the Nobel International Business (NIBS) University alumni of NIBS, Dr Sylvester Nyamekye, has cautioned against the use of "Doctoral Title" for self-glorification by persons who bear it, but see it a responsibility towards human development.Consequently, he has admonished doctoral graduates to stop flaunting it as a prestige and serve as change-makers and influence the course development in the respective areas and communities."The title of "doctor" is a call to service rather than self-glorification, you must therefore use your knowledge for the betterment of society," he said.Dr Nyamekye said this at the 2025 Doctoral Graduation Ceremony of NIBS University in Accra on Sunday, held on the theme "Leaders of Thought, Architects of Growth", celebrating the academic excellence and societal responsibility of the new doctoral graduates. The President of NIBS University congratulated the graduating class and reminded them of the noble responsibility that comes with their achievement."Today is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it," Dr Nyamekye declared. "This doctorate is not for you alone.
It is for your families, friends, and communities.
Indeed, you are change-makers.
Your doctoral degrees will be meaningless if they are not used to assist humanity."Dr Nyamekye also welcomed the new graduates into the NIBS Alumni Association, which now boasts a community of over 300 members globally.
