Former Subin Member of Parliament, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has attributed the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections to the party's failure to heed the concerns and sentiments of the Ghanaian people.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV's Face to Face on Tuesday July 1, the former lawmaker said the loss did not come as a surprise to him and others within the party who had foreseen the warning signs but felt they were ignored. "I am not worried because some of us, we anticipated it," Antwi stated. "And you see, if you fail to listen to the people, they punish you.

So as a politician, you must constantly be listening, you must constantly be hearing people out.

That is what we failed to do." The 2024 polls saw a resounding defeat for the NPP.
