The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has declared the worsening drug situation in Ghana a national emergency, as senior officials warn of growing threats posed by drug traffickers and operational constraints hampering the agency's effectiveness.
This came to light during a working visit by Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee to NACOC headquarters, aimed at assessing the agency's capacity to combat the rising drug menace.
In a presentation to the Committee, Dr.
Basha Ligbi, Head of NACOC's Research Bureau, outlined a series of critical operational challenges undermining the Commission's work.
