The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has commended female parliamentari­ans for their resilience, determination, and efforts in advanc­ing women's leadership in Ghana's governance.Speaking during a courtesy call on Friday by the Women's Caucus in Par­liament, she praised them for sustain­ing the momentum that had brought them this far, saying their journey had not been easy, but they have proven themselves capable and deserving.She acknowledged the importance of supporting not only those who have made it into Parliament, but also the many women who attempted to run but could not succeed. "We should ensure that the fire that made them put themselves out there is not quenched," she emphasised.She said society benefits when more women were empowered to take leadership roles.The Vice President also encouraged the female parliamentarians to use their positions to lift others, particu­larly young girls and children in their constituencies, urging them not to keep the opportunity to themselves but to pay it forward.The President of the Women's Caucus and Member of Parliament for Ada, Ms Comfort Doyoe Cud­joe-Ghansah, led the delegation and congratulated the Vice President on behalf of all female MPs.She described her appointment as historic and transformational, saying it represented hope and inspiration for every woman and girl in Ghana."You are a living proof that women can lead at the highest level of gov­ernance and do so with grace, dignity and impact," she stressed.The Vice President of the Caucus, Ms Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa, highlighted the passage of the Affirmative Action Law in July last year and emphasised the need for strong implementation.She described the Vice President as a mother figure to the women in Parliament and pledged their con­tinued support to make her tenure a remarkable one.Both from Majority and minority expressed gratitude for her leadership, and pledged to work together in order to advance gender equity and national development.
