The top two winners of the just-ended Girls in ICT initiative in the Volta Region have received a cash donation of GH¢1,000 each from William Worfa Kpormatsi, a business tycoon and big gun of the Akatsi South NDC, a gesture aimed at supporting their educational journeys and encouraging excellence in technology among young girls.

The beneficiaries, Wosilatu Mohammed, who emerged as the overall winner, and Precious Dogbeda, who placed second, were among over 1,000 participants who competed in the government-sponsored Girls in ICT programme hosted at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho.

In particular, the story of 13-year-old Precious Dogbeda, a student of Wuxor M/A Basic School in Akatsi South Municipality, has drawn national attention.

Despite her school lacking a single computer, she defied the odds to clinch the second position - a feat many have described as extraordinary.
