Two fishmongers, Lady Ayawah and Faustina Kattah, have each been hit with a fine of 100 penalty units, amounting to GH¢1,200, by the Amasaman Circuit Court.
The pair were found guilty of dishonestly receiving stolen tilapia valued at a staggering GH¢100,000.
According to an Adom FM online Facebook post on June 27, 2025, lawyers for both women sought mitigation, appealing for a lighter sentence before the fines were handed down. "The Amasaman Circuit Court has fined two fishmongers, Lady Ayawah and Faustina Kattah, 100 penalty units each, equivalent to GH¢1,200, for dishonestly receiving stolen tilapia valued at GH¢100,000," the caption of the post read.
The conviction and sentence were given after their own guilty pleas before the court.
